Cheryl Ann grew up on an Arabian horse farm in Belews Creek, North Carolina. At a very young age she began drawing, and when introduced to oil paint at age 10, fell in love with painting and the art of making art. She has since continued painting as both a lifelong passion and a professional career.

Cheryl Ann looks for beauty in everything she does. Traditional in approach yet extremely personal in application, Cheryl Ann’s figure studies, portraits, landscapes and body paintings are effused with emotion and grace, while the love of her work is evident in every piece and in every brushstroke. She strives to capture the true essence of her subject matter with the reflective soul of the colors of her palette.

She has received art degrees from Guilford Technical Community College, Pennsylvania College of Art and Design and the Fine Arts League of the Carolinas in Asheville NC. In addition she has completed private apprenticeships with master painters, Senor Javier Pamplona in Madrid, Spain, Master Fresco painters Ben Long IV and Roger Nelson at the Fine Arts League of the Carolinas, and continued her studies with workshops as well as private lessons from Artists Mr. John Cosby, Mr. Tony Griffin and Professional Body Painters Bella Volen and the Triple Crown World Champions; Scott Fray and Madelyn Greco of Livingbrush Studios.

The fine art movement of Bodypainting has launched her career onto an overflowing path of success and opportunities. After only Body Painting for 2 months in 2013, Cheryl Ann won 1st place in the Living Art America, North American Bodypainting Championships in the Emerging Artist Category. She returned to compete in 2014 for the Pro Category and placed 2nd. She also came in 12th place against 67 artists from over 45 different countries during the Worlds International Bodypainting Championships held in Portschach am Worthersee, Austria 2013. She looks forward to many new adventures, competitions and opportunities with the Body Art Community.

Currently Cheryl Ann’s focus is on Impressionism, portraiture, plein air painting, still life, landscapes, commissions, and body paintings. She is developing her own signature style while producing new works.
All art is Authentic, Original and Signed.

MARIAH CAREY AND BEYONCÉ BODY PAINT ARTISTS AMONG WORLDWIDE COMPETITORS AT WEST COAST’S FIRST EVER BODY PAINTING AND PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

TICKETS ON SALE NOW FOR BODY FINE ART COMPETITION MAY 16

LOS ANGELES (April 9, 2015) – From Mariah Carey and Beyoncé to Game of Thrones and MAC Cosmetics, body painting has invaded every part of American culture. Now for the first time on the West Coast, artists from around the world will compete as they create live pieces of art at the Body Fine Art Competition (#BFALA2015), Saturday, May 16 at The Springs in the downtown Los Angeles Arts District. The art of body painting is a way of illustrating the energetic, psychological and spiritual activity below the surface of the skin.

Among 30 competing artists and photographers is David Gilmore of Long Beach who has body painted for Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, and MAC Cosmetics and was a multiple year winner for the annual Belmont Shore Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest. Originally an ad agency illustrator working with clients such as Absolut and Orbitz, it was seeing Keith Haring’s body paintings of choreographer Bill T. Jones and Grace Jones that led to his “Oprah moment,” he says. “Working on canvas is one locked moment, but body painting is a fluid interaction of two people creating beauty together. I knew that I had found my calling.”

In 2014, Julie Hassett, a recent Sherman Oaks resident, garnered worldwide attention by creating a live, body painted version of the infamous Iron Throne from the television show Game of Thrones. Hassett grouped multiple models into the shape of the throne and painted them with swords to create a haunting effect. Her company, Let’s Gogh Paint is often hired to body paint guests of entertainment power brokers and society doyennes at private house parties.

While body painting traces back to the birth of man, the modern evolution of its style blossomed when actress Demi Moore posed in full body paint for a 1992 Vanity Fair cover. In 2012 Gotye’s music video for Somebody That I Used To Know created a sensation as the lead singers were body painted and camouflaged into a painting. “Sacred Body,” the theme of this year’s competition, offers artists the opportunity to explore the vast possibilities of representing the mysteries that lie beneath the exterior of the human form, as well as the inherent beauty of the human body.

Additional featured artists competing for the grand prize of $5,000 include Dewayne Flowers of Flesh and Colors who has amassed a social media following more than 100,000 strong. Cheryl Ann Lipstreau was awarded the 2013 grand prize at the Emerging Artists International Body Painting Competition for Living Art America. Also competing is body painting legend and accomplished graffiti artist Wiser Oner whose clients included NBC, Clear Channel, Playboy, Absolut, Bacardi, Ed Hardy, Tapout, Penn and Teller and more. Learn more about all the artists at www.bodyfineart.com.

The World Bodypainting Association (WBPA), an international alliance for body paint artists and models, is an official sponsor of Body Fine Art’s first Southern California event. Hosted by modern burlesque artists the Boulet Brothers, the Body Fine Art Competition will feature live body painting, a competition catwalk, dance group Bijoulette, live music from Robbie Fitzimmons and DJ sets by KCRW-FM’s Jason Bentley, DJ Wolfie, Uru Majik and iPunx. Celebrity judges include host of KCRW-FM’s ‘Morning Becomes Eclectic’ Jason Bentley, CEO and Founder of the World Bodypainting Festival Alex Barendregt, world renowned body paint artist Filippo Ioco and world champion body painter and GSNTV’s Skin Wars judge Craig Tracy. More than 30 body paint artists and photographers will compete for prizes up to $5,000.

The Body Fine Art Competition will be held at The Springs, 608 Mateo Street in the downtown Los Angeles Arts District on Saturday, May 16. Artists will begin painting earlier in the day and doors open to the public at 7:00 pm. VIP tickets are $50 and include early entry to the venue at 4:00pm plus a beverage. General admission tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door while early bird tickets are $15 through April 15. Tickets can be purchased at www.bodyfineart.com. Johannes Stötter is artist, musician and fine art bodypainter. Born and based in South Tyrol (Italy), he spent his early childhood in the high Alps and grew up with 3 brothers and a sister in a family of musicians. He sings, plays violin, whistle and bouzouki in the Celtic Folk band “Burning Mind“, he studied education and philosophy at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and was involved in several social projects which he combined with art and music.

As a fully autodidactic artist Johannes developed his painting style and his bodypainting technique without any relation to other bodypainting artists and their work. He joined the international bodypainting community in 2009 at the World Bodypainting Festival in Austria, where he took part at the bodypainting world championship for the first time.

In the following years he won many awards, most notably he was WORLD CHAMPION 2012, Vice World Champion 2011 and 2014, Italian Champion 2011 and 2013, winner of the North American Bodypainting Championship, Atlanta, Georgia, USA 2013 and Winner of the “International Fine Art Bodypainting Award” 2014.

In 2013 he became world famous with his legendary creation of a tropical frog consisting of 5 human bodies, so he made headlines in the world press and was featured in newspapers, magazines and online magazines as New York Post, New York Daily News, The Sun, The Times, The Mirror, The Guardian, Dailymail, Bild, Stern, Spiegel, Focus, Süddeutsche Zeitung, View and many more, in TV channels as CNN, BBC, TV Globo, RAI, ZDF, Pro7, RTL, DW, ORF, ntv Japan and many more, as well as in the published books “The Art of Bodypainting” (Peter de Ruiter), “Champions at Heart” (Karala B), “The Human Canvas” (Karala B) and in the Calendar “Painted Bodies” (Weingarten Verlag).

Today Johannes teaches Bodypainting at the World Bodypainting Academy – at the WBF (World Bodypainting Festival) as well as around the world – and Anatomic Bodypainting at Yoni Academy. He works and exhibits all around the globe in collaboration with his agency wb-production. You can read more about Johannes at his website: www.johannesstoetterart.com

Dewayne Flowers was born and raised in Georgia and has recently relocated to San Diego. He has always been an artist working in the mediums of drawing, painting, ceramics. He became interested in bodypainting when he was 17 and did his first painting in his junior year of high school. He took a very poor photo of that piece which then became the catalyst for him to learn photography. Referred to as a photographer, he sees himself as more of an artist who knows how to photograph his own work. You can learn more about Dewayne at his website www.fleshandcolor.com. Deborah Brommer has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Art History and a minor in theatre from Ohio University. Her love of art and her love of performance came together in an obsession with body painting. Deborah started her body art journey with Henna which she discovered on a trip to Morocco in 2000 and shortly thereafter started her body art business. Her foray into body painting began in 2008 when she decided to paint her very first body at the World Bodypainting Competition in Austria in the amateur division. She fell in love with the art form and hasn’t looked back, competing several more times at the WBF and other venues around the world.
